Brake Pad Replacement
Pads are the fastest-wearing part of the braking system, and the cheapest to put right before they take the discs with them.
Pads worn?
When pads need replacing
- Friction material worn close to or below the minimum thickness
- Wear sensor warning on the dashboard
- Squealing or grinding noises
- Uneven wear between inner and outer pads
- Contamination from a fluid leak
What we do
- Measure pads and discs and check the wear pattern
- Clean and lubricate carriers, sliders and contact points
- Check caliper piston operation and seals
- Fit new pads with any required wear sensors and fittings
- Reset electronic parking brakes where applicable
- Bed the brakes in and road test
Uneven wear tells a story
Pads that wear unevenly usually point to a sticking slider, a seized piston or a caliper that is not releasing. Fitting new pads without addressing that simply repeats the problem, so we check it as part of the job.
