Gearbox Replacement
When a gearbox is beyond economical repair, a good replacement unit fitted properly restores the car for far less than most people expect.
What replacement involves
- Confirming the fault is internal to the gearbox
- Identifying the correct unit for your engine and specification
- Removing the original box and inspecting the clutch and flywheel
- Transferring or replacing the clutch, release bearing and seals as needed
- Fitting, filling with the correct grade of oil and road testing
Do the clutch at the same time
The labour to reach the clutch is already being done. If the clutch has covered significant mileage, replacing it during a gearbox job avoids paying for that same labour again later.
