Clutch & Gearbox

Clutch & Flywheel Replacement

Clutch and flywheel are a matched pair. When the flywheel is worn, a new clutch alone will not fix judder or noise.

Judder on pull-away?

When both need replacing

  • Heat damage, cracking or scoring on the friction face
  • Excessive free play or rocking in a dual-mass flywheel
  • Rattle at idle that changes when the clutch is pressed
  • Judder that persists after a clutch replacement
  • Contamination from a leaking crankshaft or gearbox seal

What we do

  • Remove the gearbox and inspect the full assembly
  • Measure and assess flywheel condition
  • Fit clutch kit and flywheel to specification with correct torque procedures
  • Replace leaking seals found during the strip-down
  • Bleed hydraulics and road test

Doing it once

Because the labour is dominated by removing the gearbox, replacing worn related parts at the same time is usually cheaper than a second visit. We will set out exactly what we recommend and why.
