Car Battery Replacement
Modern batteries are not just a box of power. On many vehicles a new battery has to be the right type and registered to the car.
Struggling to start?
Signs the battery is failing
- Slow cranking, especially first thing in the morning
- Needing a jump start after standing for a few days
- Stop-start system no longer working
- Multiple unrelated electrical warnings
- Battery more than a few years old with heavy short-journey use
Testing before replacing
We test the battery's state of charge and health, then check the charging system and look for parasitic drain. A battery that keeps going flat with a healthy alternator usually means something is drawing current when the car is parked — replacing the battery alone will not fix that.
Fitting it properly
- Correct type and specification, including AGM or EFB where required
- Battery registration or coding on vehicles with smart charging
- Cleaning and protecting terminals and checking earth connections
- Checking the charging system after fitting
- Old battery disposed of responsibly
