Timing Belts & Chains
Ford Transit Custom Wet Belt Replacement
The Transit Custom is one of the hardest-working vans in the country, and its belt-in-oil timing drive is one of the jobs owners cannot afford to leave.
Transit Custom wet belt?
Why Transit Custom owners ask about wet belts
Transit Custom vans fitted with EcoBlue diesel engines use an oil-immersed timing belt and, depending on specification, an oil pump drive belt. High mileage, stop-start delivery work and stretched oil change intervals all shorten belt life.
Warning signs
- Oil pressure warning light or message
- Noise from the front of the engine
- Timing correlation codes or running faults
- Rubber debris in the oil filter or sump
- Van cutting out or failing to restart
What we do
- Confirm the engine and belt arrangement from your registration
- Strip for access, typically including sump removal
- Clean and inspect the oil pump pickup
- Fit new timing and oil pump belts
- Renew disturbed seals and gaskets
- Correct-specification oil and filter, then road test
Keeping downtime sensible
We have one main ramp, so we book bigger jobs in properly rather than starting them between other work. That means we can tell you when the van goes in, and give you a realistic idea of when it comes back.
