Steering & suspension

Car pulling to one side

The key detail is whether the pull happens all the time, only under braking, or only under acceleration.

Symptoms drivers describe

  • Constant need to hold the wheel against a pull
  • Pull appearing only when braking
  • Uneven tyre wear across an axle
  • Steering wheel off-centre when driving straight

Possible causes

  • Tyre pressures or a damaged tyre
  • Wheel alignment out of specification
  • A sticking brake caliper on one side
  • Worn suspension bushes or a bent component after a pothole
  • Uneven brake pad wear or a collapsed flexible hose

What you can do

  • Check tyre pressures first
  • Note whether it pulls only under braking
  • Mention any recent kerb or pothole impact

How we check it in the workshop

We road test, check tyres and pressures, inspect brakes for binding and check suspension geometry components before recommending alignment or repair.

Is it safe to keep driving?

Get it checked. A pull under braking is a safety issue and uneven wear ruins tyres quickly.
