Timing Belts

Which Ford engines use a wet belt?

Wet belts appear across several Ford engine families. Confirming which one you have decides the interval and the job.

The engine families to look at

  • 1.0 EcoBoost three-cylinder petrol, widely used in Fiesta, Focus and Puma
  • 1.5 EcoBoost petrol in some applications
  • 1.5 and 2.0 EcoBlue diesel, including Transit Custom, Transit Connect and Focus

Why you should confirm rather than assume

Specifications vary by model year, market and engine code, and some variants use a chain or a dry belt. The reliable way is to check against the engine code on your vehicle rather than the badge on the back.

What the interval depends on

  • The manufacturer schedule for your specific engine code and year
  • Whether the vehicle does mainly short journeys or idles for long periods
  • Oil specification and how often it has been changed
  • Any revised guidance issued for that engine family

Have it confirmed for your vehicle

Send your registration to 07440 140340 and we will confirm what your engine uses and what we would recommend on interval.
