Driveshaft & CV Joint Repairs
A click on full lock is the classic CV joint warning. Caught early, it is often just a boot and grease job rather than a shaft.
Clicking when turning?
Symptoms
- Clicking or knocking on full lock, especially at low speed
- Vibration under acceleration
- Grease thrown around the inside of the wheel arch
- A split or perished CV boot
- Clonk when taking up drive
What we do
- Inspect boots, joints and shaft for play and contamination
- Replace CV boots and repack where the joint is still sound
- Replace CV joints or complete driveshafts where worn
- Check wheel bearings, mounts and gearbox seals at the same time
- Road test to confirm the repair
Catch the boot early
Once a boot splits, grease escapes and road dirt and water get in. The joint then wears quickly. A torn boot spotted at service time is a far smaller job than a failed joint.
