Coil Spring Replacement
Broken springs are common on UK roads, and a snapped coil can cut into a tyre. It is not a job to leave.
Car sitting low?
Signs of a broken or tired spring
- The car sitting lower on one corner
- A knock or clonk over bumps from one wheel
- Visible break, usually near the bottom coil
- Uneven ride height front to rear
- Tyre damage or rubbing in the arch
What we do
- Confirm the failure and inspect the matching side
- Replace springs with the correct rating for your vehicle
- Renew bump stops, spring seats and top mounts where worn
- Check shock condition while the strut is apart
- Road test and check ride height
Springs and safety
Coil springs are under considerable tension. Removing and refitting them requires the right compressors and technique — this is not a job to attempt at the roadside.
